Why not? It's a symmetric shot with great lighting and it is no different than what you see day in day out in the advertising world. In fact, if you find the female form offending, then I can tell you that in the country the photographer is from, or even in the country I live, you will see more exposed flesh on a beach. And why not? We are all born naked; I don't get the problem with it.
Either way, it's a well composed, well color balanced, well lit and very symmetric shot. With or without the female addition, this would be/is a great photo.
It's still just a butt in front of a bed. All they did was add fancy lighting and some aftereffects and boom. instant DD. Any 10 year old with a grasp of a camera and photoshop could easily re-create the same image. There's no creativity in this shot at all. Any one can put a half-naked woman in front of a bed, take a picture of it, and call it "art"
yeah, exactly. That's the point I'm trying to make. It's not special and it's not DD worthy in my opinion. Just like how that flower wouldn't be. It's basic and plain. Nothing interesting about it. It's only getting so much attention because it's a half naked woman. :I
You don't have to be a mature and sentient being to know that sex exists, all one needs to do is turn on the radio or open a magazine. I'm pretty sure this person is complaining because of that fact that, out of all of the amazing and beautifully stunning works that are on this site, a very plain, boring, and overly common photo was chose as a DD.
I honestly agree with the person above, and before you or anyone else goes into the 'you must be a feminist/dislike the female body/a prude/immature/don't understand its beauty.' I want to stop you right there and say that I do very well understand everything about this picture. Its fine on its own, but as a DD it is shameful and pathetic.
Then maybe you should complain to the person who actually made it a DD. Perhaps the author thinks the photo is just as pointless as you. They aren't responsible for it being a DD so there's no sense complaining on their artwork's comments.
this is just lovely. she is lovely the bed is lovely. the pose is lovely. I like the red pillow. if that was not there i do not think my eyes would keep going back tho the center of the price. LOVELY WORK grats on the DD
...Am I the only one who sometimes feel sorry for these women? It almost seems as if their being displayed as animals for a zoo. I mean, yes, we know you're beautiful, but it doesn't have to be used in sexual preferences. There are so many pictures like this that the only feeling I get is hollowness and despair. I remember when I first started using DA, the cover page wasn't covered in naked or half naked women.
Times have change I guess, as have certain demands. Kinda sad though...
but when it's just sexuality on the borderline of porn, than there's a problem. There are young people on this site, and the mature block is supposed to prevent them from seeing something like this. I'll assume that you don't have younger kids, or younger siblings or young people in your life that have access to a computer, or websites like D.A, the mature block is made specifically for them.
They're young artist, and with technology influencing younger kids today, they're going to turn to D.A. This picture is something most adults or young adults wouldn't be comfortable with younger kids seeing, even if they are 13 years old.
That's just common sense, and D.A's doing a terrible job adhering to it if they're letting pictures like his slip past the mature filter. I know you may argue that not all kids are the same, shoot, i started getting into 'M' rated fanfics when I was in fourth grade and you probably have a similar story like me. But if it can be prevented, then let it be, some things can be stopped.
